Becoming a Leader - Skill #3

Becoming a Leader - Skill #3

You have learned how to make the vision rich with all five senses and to embody the vision in your core. Then I reminded you to chart your course using the stars rather than the ground to give you a vast canvas upon which to draw your route.

The third skill is to be creative in your approach. Being locked into my way or the highway can be detrimental to realizing the vision you have created. There will be storms along your path that will cause you to drift off the route. Also, there might be opportunities that you did not see in the initial vision that would enhance the vision and make it even more yummy than originally imagined. If you do not open yourself up these possibilities, you might miss the mark entirely.

Being creative in your approach brings about new and exciting adventures as well as giving your tribe the ability to offer input and suggestions that can enrich the journey. What got you where you are today is probably not what will get you to where you want to go tomorrow. The world is changing too fast to be stuck in one way of thinking about an idea. Leaders think outside the box and do usually think in terms of “what if?” Brainstorming with the team can bring out fresh, new ideas and directions that can fulfill the vision faster than with just one person’s input. With no critique of the ideas, the team builds on what comes out and can develop some awesome results that could not have occurred otherwise.

Now is the time to express your creativity in the design and execution of the plan.
