Your Song

The Song of You: Remembering Who We Are
It began with a misunderstanding. My cousin, a cinematographer, invited me on another trip. When I saw the sign “Flight to Nairobi,” I groaned — the last time we’d gone there, it was months of filming in the desert heat.
But this journey was different.
After a long trek, we arrived at a small African village. That night, the women gathered around a campfire, then led me into the forest where a pregnant woman waited. For days they sang and prayed. Slowly, I understood — they were discovering the song of the baby yet to be born.
In their culture, every person has a song — created before birth and sung through every stage of life. Even when someone does wrong, the village gathers to sing their song again, reminding them of who they truly are. Because, they believe, we only harm others when we forget our song.
That idea stayed with me. Do we, in our modern world, still have a song?
Perhaps our “songs” today are digital — our emails, messages, data — the digital footprints that make up our identity. And now, as we move into the age of Artificial Intelligence and the coming Singularity, it’s more important than ever to remember our human melody.
AI may enhance our memory and voice — but only we can sing from the heart.
So, listen within. Find your song. Sing it boldly. It’s your way home.
